Electrical and Electronic Equipment

1. Notes on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment and the meaning of the symbol according to Annex 3 to the ElektroG:

Owners of waste equipment must provide it with a separate collection from unsorted municipal waste.

Electrical and Electronic Equipment should therefore not be disposed as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, should not be disposed as household waste. Rather, these old devices should be collected separately and disposed via the local collection and return systems.

Owners of old equipment also have to dispose used batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old equipment before they are delivered to a collection point.

The latter shall not apply insofar as the old appliances are separated according to § 14 (5) sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG as part of the opt-in by the public waste disposal carriers for the purpose of preparation for the re-use of other old appliances in order to prepare them for reuse .

Using the symbol in accordance with Annex 3 to the ElektroG, owners can identify old appliances that are to be recorded separately from unsorted municipal waste. The symbol for separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheeled bin and is designed as follows:

2. Notes on the possibilities of returning old devices:

Owners of waste equipment may disclose it as part of the collection and disposal of waste equipment organized and available by public waste management authorities, in order to ensure the proper disposal of waste equipment. Optionally, there is also a dispensing of electrical and electronic equipment for the purpose of reuse of the equipment possible. Further information can be obtained from the respective collection or return point.
