Grow Tents

Grow tent for indoor plant cultivation

Growing plants indoors under artificial light is usually started in a grow tent or grow box, propagator or mini-greenhouse. You can start cultivating with seeds or with cuttings that have been separated from the mother plant. Regardless of which approach you choose, the little plants need a lot of attention and care, as well as a suitable place where they can grow and thrive. This is where the grow tent comes into play.

What is a grow tent?

A grow tent - also called a growbox - is an alternative form of indoor greenhouse. It consists of a framework made of metal or plastic, which is covered with a sturdy cover fabric. The cover is impermeable to water, air and light and has a reflective coating on the inside. Furthermore, a good growbox has various access points for cables, lighting and air conditioning systems as well as opaque closure options such as black-out zippers.

What do I need for a growbox?

A grow box is only as good as the accessories it is equipped with. Pots, substrate, and fertilizer play an important role, but they are not enough to make your dreams of a bountiful harvest come true. In order to realize your plans for perfect plant cultivation with the highest possible yields, you will mainly need to install a lighting system as well as a supply and exhaust system in your grow tent.

Why you need a grow tent lighting and ventilation system

Your plants, like you, have an "internal clock." For healthy growth, they need a regulated day-night rhythm that is specifically adapted to the specific needs of their species. For this reason, a daytime phase with plenty of light and the inclusion of a night's rest are necessary. Daylight and additional ordinary plant lamps are not sufficient for this.

For this purpose, the tunnel-like entrances on the sides and roof of the plant tent allow you to install a lighting system in addition to an exhaust air system. You can control the lighting manually or via a timer. It provides your plant inside the box with the light it needs at the intervals it requires to thrive. The opaque cover fabric prevents daylight from entering the tent, which could otherwise disturb the plant's day-night rhythm. Meanwhile, a ventilation system prevents the heat given off by the lighting from building up in the box and also improves air circulation.

Which grow box is best for you?

Each of our Heisenberg grow tents has a sturdy metal frame that is assembled using plastic corner connectors. The frame can easily hold up to 30kg and is able to hold a fan with supply and exhaust hose, an activated carbon filter as well as a lighting system with reflector or an LED lamp with ease. But before you decide to buy a grow box on the off chance, you should think in advance about what specific requirements you have for the tent and what conditions prevail in the room where you want to set up the box.

Different ranges of grow tent sizes

We offer our grow tents in different sizes with a footprint of 80cm², 100cm² up to 120cm². Unlike a grow cabinet, which is permanently installed in a room, a growbox, regardless of its size, is lightweight and mobile - simply move it to the desired location when assembled.

Grow tent coating - white or silver - which is better?

You have 2 products to choose from - the black Heisenberg grow tent with Mylar coating or the light colored Heisenberg grow tent with white PE coating. All tents are available in 3 sizes each. But which grow box is good? Are both equally suitable for indoor growing? Which growbox should you buy? Here the tastes and experience values of different home growers argue. While many customers prefer the plant tents with the well-tried Mylar film, others like the Grow Pope Jorge Cervantes like the white PE foliation better. The white foil reflects light just as well, though with proper light and exhaust settings, heat builds up more slowly in the box. Our experience has shown that excellent results can be achieved with both boxes if the correct basic tent equipment is in place.

How many plants fit in a grow tent?

The number of plants that can fit in a grow box depends on the size of the box and, of course, the growth size of each plant. Seedlings, cuttings and compactly grown young plants can fit in a grow box in large numbers. Mature plants - such as mother plants for cuttings propagation - need more space to develop optimally.

Based on 1 plant per pot with a size of approx. 16x16cm, a box of the size 100cm² forms a grow tent for 4 plants. 80x80 tents still have room for 3 plants, while a 120x120cm grow box can accommodate up to 6 plants. Growing taller or wider plants automatically takes up more space and can therefore affect the maximum number of plants that can be stored.
