Filter Tips for joints, blunts and pipes

Besides cigarette paper, the filter tip or joint filter is indispensable for the construction of sports cigarettes. We offer extra slim, slim and regular filters as well as specially shaped cone tips from brands such as RAW, OCB, ActiTube and Purize that you can roll yourself and as ready-to-use roll-in filters for joints, blunt wraps and pipes.

What is a filter tip good for?

A filter tip is primarily used to filter the smoke that is produced during the combustion of tobacco and herbs. The filter removes a large proportion of toxins and condensates. Harmful and carcinogenic pollutants are bound within the filter and disposed of together with it after smoking. Depending on its source materials, toxins such as nicotine, tar, cyanide, hydrogen cyanide, benzene and ammonia are filtered out. In addition, a filter tip keeps ash particles and soot from entering your mouth and lungs.

The use of a filter tip also optimises the smoking process itself. In addition to filtering the smoke, the increased distance to the embers reduces the heat of the inhaled smoke. To enhance this effect, special paper filters such as the Rolls Smart filters are even equipped with a cooling system that provides an additional supply of fresh air by means of intake holes.
Last but not least, with a filter tip you are able to smoke up all the herbs rolled into your cigarette without burning your fingers.

How long is a tip?

Filter tips do not have a one-size-fits-all design. They are available in various lengths from approx. 18 - 40 millimetres. In terms of air resistance and flow when smoking, the filter diameter is of greater importance. This ranges from 5-6mm Extra Slim, over 7mm Slim up to 8-9mm Regular. Filter tips with 9mm diameter and wider are more common with blunts.

Can I smoke joints without a filter?

Of course you can also smoke joints, blunts and pipes without a filter. However, the aforementioned advantages of using a filter do not apply.
Not only do you expose yourself to a higher risk of burning yourself on your cigarette, but you also expose yourself to significantly higher levels of pollutants, while wasting herbs that remain unused in the butt at the end of your smoking session.

Different types of joint filters

We think a lot of the use of joint filters. That's why you'll find products in our shop that you can hand roll yourself, as well as those that can be wrapped in papers without any preparatory work.

Filter tips you can roll in by hand

The majority of filters that you roll up manually consist of disposable filters. These are mainly paper filter tips - either bleached white or untreated cardboard - which are rolled up and wrapped into papers and blunts.

Ready-to-use joint filters

These products are ready-to-use joint filters that come as disposable or reusable items.

Known disposable filters

When it comes to disposable filter tips, pre-rolled paper filters are the most common form. They are available as slim filters as well as wide filters and are preferred for constructing sport cigarettes. Alternative products such as corn filters - a natural product made from corn husks - are more likely to be found among blunt accessories.

Reusable filters

Products like filter tips made of glass or silicone glass filters are reusable joint filters. They can be used immediately or combined with other types of filter tips for an even cleaner smoking experience. They are also easy to clean after use.

Conditionally reusable products

Regarding the multiple use of filter tips, some people argue. Especially with activated charcoal filters there are 2 camps - some recommend changing them after every session, others swear by multiple use. We advise, especially when using slim filters, to change them regularly so that filter performance and taste are not negatively affected. When using wide 8-9mm filters in a filter pipe, multiple use can be taken into consideration.
A similar situation applies to the use of meerschaum filters as well as ceramic filters.
